About us
The Cattery on the Hill is set on the tranquil farm in Rispark, just 5 minutes from Glenvista.
This cattery caters for all sorts – fussy, spoilt, laidback or energetic – each special cat will be happy in this secluded spot. This is a luxurious retreat for your cat, allowing you to go on holiday, an extended business trip or in preparation for immigration, knowing that your cat is safe and pampered with every need catered for as we truly believe that dogs have owners and cats have slaves!
This exclusive cattery was started after the need for a top class, local cattery was realised. This purposed built facility is truly a ‘home – away – from home’, that ensures your feline friend gets the best possible care and love while you are away.
All the staff love cats and the cattery is managed very carefully ensuring that each cat receives individual care and attention every single day. There is always someone on the premises.

The Mellville Cat’s first hotel review
Afternoon Express and Bob Martin finds out what exactly a ‘cat hotel’ is.
Ever wondered what a hotel for cats is like? We caught up with Caryn Rademeyer, Owner of Cattery On The Hill, to find out what happens at a cattery and what they offer.
A couple of weeks ago I took my first holiday, to a place in the south of Joburg called Cattery on the Hill.
I suppose you could argue that this was not really my first holiday. Last month, while Heather was away on an extended trip, I decided to take a surprise holiday without telling anyone and absconded from our house in Melville. That holiday, however, did not turn out as planned.
Accommodation – Our Cottages
The Cattery on the Hill is set on the tranquil farm in Rispark, just 5 minutes from Glenvista. This cattery caters for all sorts – fussy, spoilt, laidback or energetic – each special cat will be happy in this secluded spot.
The Menu
Cats are fed twice a day with a high quality dry food (Royal Canin or Hills) and soft food treats are added once a day. This ensures that a balanced diet is enjoyed and no kitty goes home suffering from excess ‘holiday bulge’!
Health and Safety
All units are cleaned twice a day as hygiene and cleanliness are very important. Each cat’s wellbeing is monitored daily. A good quality litter is used and multiple litter trays are available in each unit.
For the extra special cat…
Kittens – having had at least 2 vaccinations – senior citizens and cats on daily medication are welcome. Long haired cats will be groomed as required but this may be charged at an additional rate especially during peak season.

Cats are rather delicate creatures and they are subject to a good many different ailments, but I have never heard of one who suffered from insomnia.
